Want to bring back smile in the face of victims like me

Earthquake left nobody. But the level of loss my family faced, probably was the worst. I was at Banepa attending a training leaving my family in Thangpaldhap when the earthquake struck on April 25. Having escaped from the disaster, my heart and mind was in my home. After multiple attempts I was able to contact my father only to listen the worst news of my life. The house had buried my six months old son, wife and four years old niece. As road to my village was obstructed in multiple places, I reached home only three days after the disaster.

I have no words to explain how painful it was to see the loss in front of my eyes. My son who had bidden me goodbye with a smile had left this world while my better half who would share my sorrow too wasn’t with me. It was a heartbreaking scene. But after seeing the loss of others, I consoled myself that I wasn’t the only person to have cheated by the nature.

Few days after the quake Jit Ram Lama sir accompanied by an official from Fondation De France came here with a plan to support the victims and asked me to be a part of ARSOW-Nepal team. I immediately accepted his proposal agreeing to quit the previous job. After having the irreparable loss, I have made up my mind to stay in my own village with my parents and support villagers to the extent I can.

I would have definitely made a better earning had I not left my previous job but it would have never given me the level of satisfaction currently I have. It would be a great achievement of my life, if I can bring a smile in the face of the villagers who had lost everything in the disaster as I did.
